And our journey through it.
God's Commandments
What a beautiful morning this is Church! No matter what the weather or condition of the world right now, God made a wonderful day and morning because we are alive to spread the Gospel yet to more and more!
I was reading in Exodus this morning in chapter 20 and found God’s Commandments for Israel; which brought back my thoughts to when I first started writing on the web site back in February of 2013.
I was focusing on the Beatitudes and lessons in Matthew chapters 5 through 7 at that time and on all the commandments Jesus was teaching His disciples about on that mountain top. Now in Exodus chapter 20 verses 1-11 God was telling Moses the commandments relating to Himself, then in verses 12-17 He gave Moses commandments relating to man. (Please read those for your self because it is a bit much for this paper.)
After reading Exodus let’s go back to Jesus teaching His disciples in the new testament in Matthew chapters 5-7 which are strikingly similar only Jesus goes much farther and in more depth for His disciples giving specific guide lines for them to teach and preach and live by from God.
God sent His Son, Jesus, to be a mediator between Him and His Creation, and to lay some ground rules for living a God filled life here on earth. The “Letter of the Law” was very hard to fulfill in the old testament times, Jesus came to fulfill the Law through Grace and Mercy:
Matthew 5:17-19 (Jesus speaking)
“Do not think that I come to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. (Romans 10:4) For assuredly, I say to you, til heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one letter will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”
The rest of chapter 5 through 7 gives us the guidelines for how we are to live our lives in God’s sight.
As I’ve said before, Pastor Hagee has put sub-titles through out the New King James Version of the Bible so we can understand a bit better when reading the Word; while allowing the Holy Spirit to bring God’s Revelations to us also.
In chapter 5 verses 20-26 the sub-title is Murder; verses 27-30 deals with Adultery; verses 31-32 deals with Divorce; verses 33-37, Oaths; verses 38-42, Retaliation, verses 43-48, Love. Chapter 6 starts with Charitable deeds with verses 1-4; Prayer comes next in verses 5-15 (Lord’s Prayer in those verses); verses 16-18 is about Fasting; Jesus dealt with Wealth from verses 19-34. In chapter 7 of Matthew, Jesus dealt with Judging in verses 1-6. The next 5 verses 7-11, are very special to me because it says out right how our Father ‘gives good things to those who ask Him’. The next verse tells the ‘Golden Rule’; which even today we need to have foremost in our lives:
Matthew 7:12
“Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and Prophets.” (Galatians 5:14)
In verses 13-14 in Matthew 7 it tells the ‘Two Ways of Life’: the narrow and wide gates. False and True Teachings come next in verses 15-20. In verses 21-23 Jesus teaches us the ‘True Way into the Kingdom’.
Jesus closes His teachings for His disciples in verses 24-27 with the ‘Parable of the Two Builders’, clearly telling us of the two ways His commandments and teachings will effect our lives every day. (If you would like to go back to the beginning of the web site, I wrote on each of these teachings in length, starting with Jesus teaching on Love.)
Are we going to build on the Solid Rock, Jesus Christ, or build on the shifting sands of the world and our enemy? That choice is given to “EACH” of us, Church. We ALL can have a one on One relationship with our Father in Heaven. All we need to do is ASK and BELIEVE and RECEIVE.
Matthew 7: 7-8
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”
“All” of this is dependent on “our” Born Again Relationship with our Father Creator; Jesus, His Son, and our Mediator (I Timothy 2:5); and God’s Spirit, the Holy Spirit, the Power and Authority that was given to us at our new Born Again experience with them. (John 15: 26; 16:13)
But Saints, we can’t depend on our Pastors or the world’s Pastors, family, friends, Christian acquaintances; “NO” relationship but our “ABBA” Fathers can get us into His Family. Jesus told ‘EACH OF US’ to seek and knock and it WILL be opened to each of us according to God’s Plan in our lives.
The first step in doing this? Is:
Trusting and Believing in God’s Love for us.
