Contentment

Greetings Church. This morning the Lord had me reading in I Timothy chapter 6 verses 6-8. The sub-title before these verses (verses 3-16) is: “Exhortation to Godliness with Contentment.” Please read all of the verses to get a very clear idea where Timothy was going with these words from his letter. (Awesome reading especially verses 11-12).

But this time I was focused on verses 6-8, Godliness with contentment is great gain. Let me write out the full verses here for us:

I Timothy 6: 6-8

“verse 6: Now godliness with contentment is great gain.”

“verse 7: For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can              carry nothing out.”

“verse 8: and having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.”

Now Church, as I read and write from the Word I usually take in the references from the verses I read to see how it is being affirmed in other parts of the Bible; please go with me.

In verse 6 the reference for the word content is:

Hebrew 13:5

“Let your conduct be without covetousness, and be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ (Deuteronomy 31: 6 and 8)

When we give ourselves (our hearts) over to the Lord for safe keeping, He will NEVER let us go. He will never go back on His Word, EVER. And when “we” put our Faith and Hope and Trust and Love “in” Him, we “will” have that peace and contentment in our Living God to give us the strength and faith to complete our days here on earth, God’s Creation.

God has given us the necessities for our life here and the peace in our hearts to live it out until we go to Him or He comes to us, Saints.

Being content in the knowledge of our salvation through God’s Son is what makes us His Children; knowing we will be with Him through eternity is just the icing on the Cake, Church.

In conclusion I looked back to Proverbs chapter 30 to verses 8-9. Here, Agur, the son of Jakeh, requested two things from God:

Proverbs 30: 8-9

“Remove falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches—Feed me with the food “YOU” prescribe for me; lest I be full and deny You, and say, “Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal, and profane the name of my God.”

As long as we are “feeding” from the Word, we will have the contentment of knowing WHO we are in Christ and having total Peace in “ALL” circumstances, situations, trials, tribulations, EVERYTHING; because we know “WHOSE” we are and “WHOSE Hands” we are in for forever.

How can we know this?      By:

Trusting and Believing in God’s Love for us.
