Cause and Effect

“Without a cause there can be no effect.” As I was reading this morning I read that statement and really started to think about those simple but POWERFUL words.

There are a lot of causes and effects, and they happen continuously every day of our lives; there are also small causes and large causes and effects. One cause and effect in history is WWII. The U.S. wouldn’t have gone into the war if Pearl Harbor hadn’t been bombed. A nature cause and effect is: If a dead, dormant “seed” is not planted and watered it will not produce any living thing, like flowers or our food. What abut lighting—without Thomas Edison—I wouldn’t be here reading and writing through The Lord because it would be pitch dark, I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face!

There is cause and effect in EVERYTHING we think, say, and do; and as a Born Again Child of God our “very faith” is an effect of Christ being raised from the dead 2,000 years ago for our sins.

I Corinthians 15:17

“And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.”

Without a risen Savior, there is no hope for salvation. The work of Christ is the irreplaceable heart of the Christian faith. Cause and effect, Church.

Oswald Chambers wrote a very profound TRUTH that I would like to quote to you today:

“It is not repentance that saves me; repentance is the sign that I realize what God has done in Christ Jesus. (Really think and meditate on that, Saints) The danger is to put the emphasis on the effect instead of on the cause.

Is it my obedience that puts me right with God? NEVER! I am put right with God because prior to “ALL” else, Christ died. When I turn to God and by belief accept what God reveals, instantly the stupendous atonement of Jesus Christ rushes me into a right relationship with God. By the miracle of God’s grace I stand justified, not because of anything I have done, but because of what Jesus has done.

The salvation of God does not stand on human logic; it stands on the sacrificial death of Jesus. Sinful men and women can be changed into new creatures by the marvelous work of God in Christ Jesus, which is prior to all experience.”

How profound is that cause and effect, Saints? The most important cause and effect of our lives.

I like the answer Dwight L. Moody gave to a question he was asked one time.

“Dwight L. Moody was once asked, ‘Sir, what must I do to be saved?” (Here most of us would go into auto-mode and pull our the “salvation message” for the man, but listen to what Pastor Moody said.) His reply startled the questioner (me too at first):

“I’m sorry, it is too late.”

     “Too late to be saved?”

“No, too late to do something.” Jesus Christ did all that needed to be done 2,000 years ago on Calvary. All that remains is to make His provision your supply. A simple “Thank You, Lord” is a wonderful place to begin.”

How totally TRUE is that, Church! Yet do we even think about that simple TRUTH “IN” our daily lives today? In fact it is even “more” important “IN” this day and age. How much more simple can the salvation message be but through Christ’s “Finished Work?”

I Corinthians 15: 3-4

“For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”

The most wonderful Cause and Effect of my life, Church. How about you? If not, how can it become one? By:
