And our journey through it.
Born Again
Good morning, Church. Today I was lead to the Book of I John where I read the explanation Pastor Hagee put with I John. But first I want to set the picture of John (according to Pastor Hagee) when he was writing this Book.
“John is enjoying a delightful fellowship with the God of Light, Love, and Life, and he desperately desires that his spiritual children enjoy the same fellowship.” This is a wonderful place to be in while fellow-shipping with our Creator.
Now in the very first part of I John 3:2 it states a Fact and Truth from God’s Word. “Beloved, now we are children of God.”
That, Church, should be our experience as Children of God. Let’s start at the beginning; it started when we are placed into God’s Family. An explanation for this statement is:
“In a general sense all men and women are the offspring of God in that He is the Creator (Acts 17:28,29). This relationship, however, is not sufficient to offset the penalty of sin, because all persons are sinners separated from God (Romans 3:23). Therefore, for a sinful person to become a child of God, a miraculous transformation must take place. The Bible refers to this change as being “born again” (John 3:3).”
We are born once into sinful flesh (natural birth) then “IF” we are “willing” in our hearts we can be “Born Again” into God’s Love (Spiritual Birth). Being Born Again is being placed into God’s Family—spiritually; Spirit to spirit so to speak.
“Spiritual life begins with spiritual birth. Spiritual birth occurs through faith in Jesus Christ. (God’s Son) Faith in Jesus Christ “infuses” us with God’s Life—eternal Life. Therefore, one who walks in fellowship with God will walk in Light, Love, and Life.” GLORY! By God’s Mercy and Grace that is a Blessed Place to be in with God.
Now, as always, let’s go to the Word to see exactly where Jesus talks about being “Born Again.”
In the Book of John, in chapter 3, Jesus is witnessing to Nicodemus who was a Pharisee and a ruler of the Jews. He had come to Jesus by night because of his position, a Sanhedrin, to ask Jesus a question:
John 3:2
“This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”
I believe that in Nicodemus’ heart he knew who Jesus was but was afraid to voice it; because he later defends Jesus and was taunted by the officers (7:45-52). Nicodemus also assisted at the burial of Jesus (19:39-42).
Let’s continue in the Word as Jesus answers Nicodemus:
John 3:3
“Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
Now Church, Nicodemus asked the normal, worldly question: (as we all tend to do when we are thinking and living in the natural world.)
John 3:4
“Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
Saints, listen VERY carefully to Jesus’ answer to that question: (and really any question we seriously ask our Lord Jesus.)
John 3:5-8
“Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water(natural birth) AND the Spirit he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, you must be born again! The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
O. K. Saints, let’s stop here and really ponder, in our hearts, what Jesus actually “said” to Nicodemus.
We are “All” born of the flesh, BUT to be born of the Spirit is an actual willingness (our wills again) to Accept, Trust and Believe in Jesus, who our Creator God and His “LOVE” for His Creation—MAN, sent to us. Glory to God in the Highest!
Wow Church, reading God’s Word really fills me up to overflowing to know that He loves me (us) that much! But don’t stop reading there Saints, continue on to the end of Jesus’ explanation to Nicodemus through verse 21 for yourself, it even includes the “much quoted” Gospel message, John 3:16, which we all know by heart because it is ingrained in our hearts through Christ. Glory!
TRUTH and FACT:
Just as Jesus was---we are physically living in the natural world, but being Born Again puts our ‘HEARTS’ into the Spiritual world with our Father and Creator!!!
Just as Nicodemus asked----How can this be? By:
Trusting and Believing in God’s Love for us.
